Earlier I have read about Moro National Liberation Front founder Nur Misuari being in Pagadian City on the mission of promoting peace in Mindanao. It was a PIA story.
Misuari arrived in Zamboanga City to call for peace in Mindanao and the last leg of his peace caravan which started in Davao City.
About 9 a.m., I was called by Roel that Misuari will be holding a press conference anytime so I rush out of our home to Lantaka Hotel where he had stayed overnight. I have covered him many many times in the past and I was still the same. We waited until close to 12nn when he finally went out to pray at the nearby mosque.
He walked from the hotel to the mosque so we had lots of time to take photos of him.
As he arrives in the mosque, they were shouting “Allah-hu-akbar” or God is great and the people jubilantly welcoming him. Then, Misuari went inside the mosque and prayed and talked to the people about peace.
We’ve earlier heard he was meeting with the city’s chief Celso Lobregat so I had to pullout of the mosque to preposition at the Garden Orchid Hotel. But, nay, it was a close door meeting.
The media were given the opportunity to interview Lobregat and Misuari during lunch.
